Lots of animal illustrations for Boden

Mouse t-shirt at Boden

Here are some animal illustrations of mine that are currently used in Boden’s Spring 2016 collection for teenage girls. It’s so fun seeing my work on t-shirts that are being modelled and styled. I was so excited to see the DOG PAJAMAS(!) too. How cute are they! 16 yr old size totally fits a size 10 ;)

Admittedly all the Boden kids clothes make me want a baby just to dress up… There are so many amazing cute patterns and designs, especially the little dinky dresses and rompers.

Oops! My Dog x Hannah Evelyn Rowlands

Here is the first product that I illustrated for Oops! My Dog in South Korea! They are a lovely online pet store for all things canine. What better collaboration?! The first item up is this pet toy hanger/clothes peg hanger if you’re British. You can buy it here if you’re in Korea. In the UK Pet London stocks Oops! My Dog items too. There are going to be more pet related items illustrated by me coming soon I believe so that’s exciting. They wanted to feature photos of my working in my flat for their site too – if anyone can read Korean please tell me what it says. Hopefully it’s nice :)

Drawing dogs for Boden – Johnnie B t-shirt

dogs_boden
Another t-shirt I illustrated for Boden is now in the shops. Hooray! This might be my favourite one yet, but that’s maybe a no brainer because it includes lots of dogs. The design was inspired by my Drawing For Dogs project – in which I raised over £1500 for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. For Boden I included Johnnie Boden’s own pup Sprout in the design :)
You can buy the shirt here. (It’s in the teenage range but age 16 fits a size 10-12 – if you like this kinda thing!)

Grayson Perry – Small differences, Istanbul

tapestries
sketchbooks
Once a friend said I looked like Grayson Perry. I have to say that it’s a pretty huge compliment, he has great hair (both as Grayson and as Claire). Also he’s without a doubt an incredible artist: one of my all time favourites.

I went to Istanbul for my birthday earlier in the month (another post soon!). On our last day, we realized there was an exhibition by Grayson Perry showing at Pera Museum. His ‘The Vanity Of Small Differences’ tapestries were on display. We couldn’t have stumbled upon a better exhibition as I’ve always loved Grayson’s work but never seen the tapestries in real life. The detail, the colours, everything about them is incredible. Photographs just don’t do them justice at all. They were amazing, some of my favourite art pieces I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing.

The tapestries tell a story of a man called Tim Rakewell who comes from a very working class background in Sunderland. As he grows older and attends university, social mobility comes into play and he makes a ‘better life’ for himself. Tim becomes part of the middle class, and does very well financially. The tapestries show 6 parts of his life, with a slightly gruesome ending. They are based on Hogarth’s A Rake’s Progress – a modern take on these old artworks.

You can watch “In The Best Possible Taste” on Channel 4 here. It’s a documentary Grayson filmed to document the research for his tapestries. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be up right now – but it may come back to watch soon (4OD does this a lot! So keep checking back). His other documentary series “Who Are You” is still on 4OD and is well worth viewing.

1 month of #The100DayProject – Update!

One month has passed since I started the #The100DayProject and it is slightly harder than I first thought. OK I lie, I knew it wouldn’t be that easy. I don’t stay home every night, sometimes I get back to my flat late from work and have other work to do – so forcing myself to draw in this sketchbook can be tough! But that’s the challenge and I’m enjoying it. I’ve had a few slip ups but the main thing is I’ve been keeping up, so I’ll hopefully complete my 100 drawings in no time!

Follow me on Instagram here if you would like to keep up with my #100DaysOfSketchbook project.
I’m also going to Istanbul at the end of the week so you’ll see photos from there on my Instagram too! (SO EXCITED!)

P.S Sorry if my blog is looking a bit weird right now or there are little bugs. WordPress updates have not been great lately and me and Henry (aka boyfriend web master pro) have been so busy we’ve not had time to fix them. That related posts plugin is painful right now but proving not as easy to fix as time allows, AND we’re moving my blog over to a new server which is a ~priority right now~ . Ooof, seriously riveting stuff guys.
