A Winter Wishlist

winterlistwish

Surprise! I’ve been spending a lot of time browsing the delights of winter shopping the last few weeks, so what better way to get it off my chest and share a few of my favourite things on here. I’m holding out until ‘Black Friday’ next week to see if any of my wish list picks go into the sales. A reduced Gucci bag is slightly acceptable.. right? Probably not.

1. ASOS Coat in chunky orange faux fur – This coat is literally the dream. Whenever I’m illustrating, I love to use orange as it is such a good colour to pull things together. I have a feeling this coat may be the same situation. Sometimes these sort of items do make one look slightly obese, hoping this won’t be the case with this bad boy. I’ve had this in my basket for a week on and off, but trying to be a semi responsible adult and wait till the potential sales. Friday you will be mine!

2. Andy Warhol Limited Edition Barbie – I want to be this doll, she’s just the best. I was super obsessed with Barbie as a girl and had everything, pretty much. This Barbie is making me want to start a collection again. Mattel you are winning at life.

3. Topshop Straight Leg Spiral Hem Jeans – Sometimes it’s good to not just wear black. These look like they would be quite a nice fit, yet to try on IRL. I think I need to branch out from wearing the same Jamie jeans a million times a month. Can anyone recommend ASOS jeans?

4. Lush The Magic of Christmas bubble bar – Admittedly I stock up on these AFTER Christmas on Boxing day when they’re hella reduced, but I do love to use them before too. This particular bubble bar is one of my faves, it’s so warm and cinnamon-y with added orange freshness. Fave combo. Almost as good as the Sparkly Pumpkin..

5. Gucci Disco Soho Bag in black – At £715 I’ve never spent that much money on any item of clothing, ever. I’ve been mulling this over for a few months and am going to see if the sales can take a cheeky few hundy off this bad boy and I may consider the options (my boyfriend or mum might kill me). I might be a bit sick to drop £700+ on a tiny bag. But jeez it’s a beauty :( (I think it’s the giant tassle that gets me..)

6. Olympia Le- Tan – The Story of O.L.T – Olympia Le-Tan is my ultimate girl crush, I wish we were friends. Her bags and fashion line are SO fun, colourful and full of personality and I’m obsessed with her Instagram. By day I work at Sanrio (Mr. Men Little Miss/Hello Kitty) and we’ve collaborated with her twice, we have a few in the office and they are the most beautifully hand created pieces you’ll ever see. This is her new actual real life book (not a bag book!) and I need to get a copy so I can love her even more ASAP!

7. Urbancode Leopard print faux fur scarf – I mean essentially I want this because it’s fucking freezing in London right now and it looks very fluffy and warm. And it’s pretty. Am totally digging that bottle green colour right now too.

8. Baia Mini in spot hair on hyde – When I stumbled on these bags on Instagram it was love at first sight. I had never heard of the brand Baia but the whole collection they have is gorgeous. At around £150-250 they are slightly more affordable than the above. Handmade in Yorkshire, I may be slightly biased but that makes these bags 100% cooler.

9. DIPTYQUE – Le roi sapin scented candle – This candle smells like Christmas sooooo much. It’s painful it’s as glorious as an actual Christmas tree. It reminds me of when you get your tree out the attic and all your decorations are a bit dusty, it encapsulates that smell PERFECTLY. Smelt in Liberty, not in my flat… yet.

BRB need to sell my kidneys to buy nice things.

Lush Oxford Street haul – Early Autumn

lush
lushhaul

Like many humans on the internet I am rather fond of a bit (ok, a lot) of Lush.

When they opened their new giant Oxford Street store a couple of months ago I was down there like a shot. I’ve probably spent a lot of money there since, but this was one ‘bag’ of stuff I got a month or two ago so I thought i’d do a little review as there were a couple of new things I tried. I’ve repurchased a few of these items since too.

What I picked up

(From L-R on 2nd picture starting at the pill! The shampoo bar is the middle item)

Cyanide Pill Bath Bomb – I think this was an Oxford Street only release when the shop opened, I can’t find it online and not sure if it was there when I went again the other week. But I actually really liked this bath bomb! It was super glittery inside and smelt very ‘almond’ like with a touch of sweetness. I’m not a huge ‘bath bomb’ person and I definitely prefer the bubble bars but I’d buy this one again if it was there for sure. I also am a bit of a sucker for novelty shaped things…

Butterball Bath Bomb – Butterball is one of the cheaper bath bombs at £2.65 so I usually pick up one or two every visit. I love the smell of Butterball and I wish they’d use it for more products – please let me know if they already do? I know there is butter bear but not sure what else. The cocoa butter makes it pretty moisturizing too, for a bath bomb.

Big Blue Bath Bomb – I’d never tried this bath bomb until recently, as I for some reason thought it might be quite drying. I suddenly decided I really liked the smell of it though. It’s quite salty with a tad of lemon, really refreshing and feels a bit like you’re bathing in the sea! It also has bits of seaweed in it for an added sea experience if you’re into that.

Rockstar Soap – Rockstar soap is one of my favourite Lush scents of all time as I love vanilla. But I can’t say I’m a huge soap person – only in the bath on occasion. Still, I can’t help but pick it up every now and again just for the smell. It also lasts for ages.

Seanik Shampoo Bar – I never tried any of the Lush shampoo bars until Seanik and I have been converted. I thought a bar on your head would be weird, but they foam up so well and last forever. Seanik is a sea salty and lemon scent which is for ‘bigger hair’ and as someone with rather flat hair, I think it does actually work pretty well. I’ve repurchased and will continue to use it so that’s saying something.

Karma Bubble Bar – Karma is my ALL time favourite Lush product. It lasts forever as it’s so big. You can use 1/4 for a bath so it always feels like the most value for money. The scent is also amazing. It’s so nice for a night time relaxing bath. It’s so moisturizing and leaves your body smelling like orange and patchouli. AND it’s glittery, and purple…

Sunnyside Bubble Bar – Like Karma I also adore this bubble bar. I’ve repurchased it a couple of times as it lasts for a couple of baths. It has a really fresh scent which makes it nice for a day time or morning bath.

Have you visited the Lush store in Oxford street? If not you totally should, it’s stupidly big and exciting. Not that I’m an enabler or anything.. x

10 Instagram accounts to follow right now

Instagram is my favourite social network without a doubt. For the visually minded it’s like crack. I can spend hours scrolling without boredom. So much so, that I had to give it a break a couple of months ago as I started to get RSI in my hand…

ANYWAY! I thought it would be nice to share with you 10 Instagram accounts I love right now. Please share your favourites with me too, I love finding amazing new accounts. Enjoy!

1. Symmetry Breakfast

breakfast
This account is food porn to the max. Actually, it’s food porn ART. Whoever is behind this account, well, I wish he was my boyfriend. Apparently each breakfast is for him and his boyfriend every morning. And no, it’s not a mirror. It’s all really laid out like that!

2. Fran Meneses

fran
Fran is an Illustrator and Youtuber now based in London, previously Berlin. I love her sketchbook drawings, and the pastel colours she uses. A lovely illustration/doodle account if you need a bit of inspiration to get drawing yourself!

Follow here: https://instagram.com/frannerd/

3. Sneakers the corgi

sneakers
Sneakers is legit my favourite Instagram dog. I mean, I follow at least 10 other corgi’s but she’s my favourite. Just so, damn, cute. THOSE SIDE EYES <3.

Follow here: https://instagram.com/sneakersthecorgi/

4. Ava Szanjna-Hopgood

ava
Ava is a friend from Yorkshire, also living in London. Her account is mainly a documentation of her adventures in Vegan-ism (is that even a word?!). Past vegetarian, prior drunk burger eater; Ava turned Vegan after reconsidering the ethics behind what she ate. She decided it was going to be her New Years resolution and she stuck to it. She’s maybe the only person I know to keep a resolution. Anyway, it makes for a colourful and fun account and you should follow her too if you like vegetables.

Follow here: https://instagram.com/guacandrolluk/ and her blog here, which is full of amazing recipes!

5. Bunny Bissoux

bunny
Bunny is an illustrator in Japan, originally hailing from the midlands (I believe). She moved to Tokyo a couple of years ago and I’ve followed her for a few years after finding her wonderful illustrations online. Her account is a mixture of crazy colours, cute Japanese shit and her amazingly detailed and hectic artwork.

5 Things I like this week – Spring wishlist

5thingsspringAhhh,  I am so excited for nice weather. Bike rides in dresses by the canal, Pimms in beer gardens and getting home from work and going to the park. Here is my Spring style wish list right now:

1. Topshop lightweight swing jacket – Khaki isn’t a colour I’d normally go for but I do think it looks lovely with brown hair and red lipstick! This jacket looks like the perfect warm-but-not-warm-enough outerwear that April showers call for.

2. Happy Plugs rose gold in-ear headphones from Selfridges – I used to hate in-ear headphones a lot, and still the sound is never as good as a pair of over the ears. However, when you live in a city and walk across a lot of dangerous roads, it’s a lot safer wearing in-ears. Also they are great for the gym.  Anything rose gold, like a blogger fucking cliche it is, I LOVE! They’re £40 which is more than I’d like to pay but not too much that I wouldn’t pay…

3. Topshop raw edge 60’s style dress – This colour is perfect and again would be so nice with bright red lipstick, or a nude lipstick and a strong cat eye liner for a night out. Now it’s getting a little warmer out sleeveless dresses are again an option without freezing to death.

4. Marc by Marc Jacobs mini drawstring bucket bag from Net-A-Porter – I love bucket bags but think the big ones probably wouldn’t be ideal in terms of practicality, you’d totally loose your keys in there. This diddy one is so cute though! ASOS have a cheaper one here for £20 and it’s leather.

5. Chanel Le Blush Creme De Chanel in Revelation – Lisa Eldridge uses a cream blush on Alexa Chung (who I spotted in the pub last week! #omgzcelebspotting – she looks just as stylish IRL) in this tutorial. I purchased the one from Rimmel in Sunkissed Cherry that Lisa used and it is really lovely to apply. I previously thought cream blusher would be a weird consistency but it actually works really well. Now i’m lusting after this Chanel one as the quality feels much nicer and I’m a sucker for nice make-up.

Soap & Glory – The Next Big Thing

10
I love Soap & Glory products so much. I’ve always got a couple of body washes or creams on the go at once, and I adore their blusher/bronzers. When I saw the limited edition Christmas box in my local boots for £29 obviously I bought one! There are so many nice products in this years and I love that they keep them all full size. You definitely get your money’s worth (especially if Boots are not doing 3 for 2 on Soap & Glory).

‘The Next Big Thing’ box is illustrated by Hattie Stewart who was in the year above me at uni, it’s so nice to see people doing well from the same course! I think the illustrations she has done suit the brand perfectly.soapandglorybox

The products in the box are:

1. THE RIGHTEOUS BUTTER Body Butter – This is probably my favourite smell out of them all. It has the classic Soap & Glory smell, delicious Shea butter. It’s quite sweet but not too sickly! The product also is so good and makes your skin super soft. Works really well on legs.

2. HAND DREAM Super Cream – I do like the other hand cream by S&G (Hand Food) but I don’t think it is a strong enough hand cream for me as I get very dry hands. I actually think I prefer this one though, again it has the classic Soap & Glory smell but absorbs super quick and actually feels way more moisturizing than Hand Food. It does say that is is ‘Super Intensive’ so maybe that’s why. I don’t think it’s as good as Aesop but for 1/3 of the price it is pretty good. I’ll use this as a second cream though – to keep by my bed.

3. ORANGEASM Body Wash – At first I thought the smell of this was a bit weird if I’m honest. But I don’t tend to like certain fruity smells for bath and shower products, I tend to stick to floral and creamy smelling stuff. BUT! I gave it a go and it smells so much nicer when you actually use it rather than just sniffing it from the bottle. It’s not as overpowering as I thought it might be. It’s not a wash I would have purchased, as I do LOVE the Clean, Girls body wash they do, but now I’ve tried it I actually do like it.

5 Things I like – Wintery December items

december
Hello, it’s been a while! I started a new job (at the same company) in November, so have been super busy with that. I’ve also been working on quite a lot of illustration stuff. Those two things combined, the past two months have just flown by.

Here are a couple of items I have been stalking over the past few weeks between Facebook advertising campaigns, presentations and drawing animals.

1. Kenzo Eiffel tower jersey sweatshirt – from Selfridges: I am checking this every single day to see if it’s back in stock in a medium. I have been a little obsessed with the Eiffel tower lately and then this jumper happened and I need it!

2. Petit Bateau striped sweatshirt:  Another month, another striped sweatshirt. Like a lot of gals my age, I own a lot of striped tops/jumpers. However I can never have enough.

3. Eyeko – Eye Do liquid eyeliner: I don’t wear eyeliner very often, because 1. It’s a lot of effort in mornings and i’m not a morning person at all, and 2.  I also wear glasses to work every day so don’t see the point! But on a special occasion or a weekend it’s nice to crack out a lovely cat eye. I’ve heard about this eyeliner for a while and would like to try it, as my current drugstore eyeliner doesn’t stay very well.. if anyone reading this can recommend me other brands/or other good eyeliners too, that would be great!

4. Red Boucle coat from Warehouse: Isn’t this just the perfect shade of red? I think with brown hair this would look amazing! And it’s in the sale..

5. Michael Kors Selma large top-zip satchel: I love the Selma satchel and have done for so long. So… finally I caved in and I bought it, in black! It’s one of the most expensive clothing related items I’ve bought but I use it every day already and it’s so plain and hard wearing it will last forever and goes with most of my wardrobe. I love it.. and want it in every colour!

Lush Christmas and Halloween – A haul

pumpkin
xmaslush
Oh god, I am pretty obsessed with the shop at the moment. The Lush Christmas and Halloween range is so good. The top glitter Sparkly Pumpkin is probably my favourite Lush item ever?! I’ve already had two baths with one of them and think I might need to stockpile. It’s a bubble bar with a hint of cinnamon – it smells perfectly Autumnal and is mega warming in a cozy big bath.

What else I picked up…

The purple glittery star is Wizard bubble bar – he’s special edition for Halloween only (like the pumpkin nooooooo) and smells delicious. With hints of tangerine and fennel he also smells like the outdoors at this time of year but with a hint of sweetness. I can’t wait to try this one.

Celestial face moisturizer – My skin has been a bit crap recently, so I thought I’d try a new moisturizer, the texture is silky and light and it does not have any overbearing smells (which I cannot stand in face moisturizers as it makes me paranoid I’ll break out) – I’ve put this on my face this evening and it is the right amount of moisture, not too soggy if you know what I mean and it has absorbed well!

Father Christmas bath bomb – This is the same smell as Snow Fairy (the shower gel) except less strong – which is good by me as I do think Snow Fairy is a bit too sickly sweet. This is a lighter version and it’s much nicer. To be honest I don’t think there is a Lush shower gel I like actually? Anyway, I haven’t tried this bath bomb yet but it goes from red to green in the bath, which I imagine will look pretty cool!

Candy Mountain bubble bar – Omg, this smells sooooo good. I have had a bath with one of these already and they are amazing. The smell is so delicious and vanilla-y and your whole body smells like it the next day. And it makes your skin super soft and moisturized. It’s probably the nicest smelling thing. Stockpile.

Pop In The Bath bubble bar – I definitely prefer the Lush bubble bars to the actual bath bombs, they are so much more moisturizing and leave a nice smell on you – more so! This one smells very refreshing and light. You can also get two baths out of one of these which is always good.

The Christmas Hedgehog bubble bar – I went a bit BUBBLE BAR mad. This one is SO CUTE! Look at him! And his smell really reminds me of the Aesop Resurrection Aromatic hand balm (which is buff btw). It feels really soft – you can tell it’s going to be really moisturizing by the texture.

Shoot For The Stars bath bomb – (Picture below). This is probably my favourite bath bomb i’ve ever tried from Lush, it looks amazing when it’s in! It literally does look like the night sky. The top layer of water is covered in a light glittery sheen – but not too much that you’re covered in it. It also smells pretty fresh but I’d say the visual appeal of this bath bomb is way cooler than the smell!

Processed with VSCOcam with n1 presetI have to admit that sometimes I am a little hesitant to step into the physical stores as I HATE the weird harassing sales thing they do in there – it’s a bit unbearable (personally). I’d rather look myself and ask for help if I need it. They have really good products, so I wish they wouldn’t do it as I do like browsing in there. Anyway! Have you been into Lush lately and picked anything up? I would love to know :) x

Winter clothes wishlist, illustrated! ASOS, Zoe Karssen, Vagabond & more.

winterwishlist-small
I thought I’d draw my current winter clothing wishlist instead of showing you photos. It’s more fun this way?! Also sometimes I think drawing clothes gets out the need to want to buy them. Is that weird?! Actually.. who am I kidding!

Anyway! Here are all the items:

1. ASOS Bonded coat with pocket detail – This has gone in the sale and I love the 60’s style of it – except it’s kind of more modern with it’s slouchy fit! I think the colour is perfect.

2. Zoe Karssen bat jumper – Well I’ve been wanting this for ageesss! I’m not into bats very much to be honest but this has been in my wishlist for a couple of months. I think it’s the fit and the messy style of the bat?!

3. COS contrast panel dress – Black. Loose but not too loose! And simple. All 3 of those things are good traits in a dress.

4. Petit Bateau iconic heavy jersey breton top – A warm and good quality version of a simple piece.

5. Vagabond Kenova Chelsea boots in black – I tried these on in Urban Outfitters (I now wish I didn’t) and they are soooo comfy! They are also the ultimate perfect height for boots. At £90 they’re not the cheapest but they are leather so probably would last!

6. Mulberry Kensington in black – Basically everything about this bag is the best. “A cross between a bucket tote and a smartly structured satchel” – can it get any better? At £995 – we can dream on buddy.

7. American Apparel ‘Easy Jean’ – To be totally honest, no jean is easy. Jeans are the worst nightmare piece of clothing to get the right fit and size in ever. I’d like to test these jeans at their claim of being easy. They also look like they would suit short legged people like me.

What’s on your winter wishlist? x
