Cadaqués – Salvador Dalí House

Way back when, the summer before last, I visited Cadaqués in Spain. Even though it was a while ago now, I can remember so vividly how blue & white everything looked – it felt like such a fresh place to be and very relaxing. As well as the beauty of the place it’s also the location of Salvador Dali’s home which is open for anyone to visit.

It was truly amazing, left just as it was. Some of my favourite parts were the giant bear upon entrance, the art studio with old paints in the original packaging and the bedroom was very elaborately decorated too. The outside space was also incredible, including the big eggs everywhere and the giant phallic water feature… I would never have said I was a huge fan of Dali’s work but after visiting his home my interest was definitely piqued!

Cadaqués is around a 2-3 hour drive from Barcelona, so if you were visiting the city it may be possible to even go in a day if you were feeling up for the road trip. However, the place is so pretty I’d totally recommend staying there for a couple of days. I’d highly recommend the hotel we stayed in too, Hotel Blaumar.

The house must also be booked for a tour in advance as space is very limited (groups of around 8 people are allowed in at once) – you can do this on the website here.

The outside had such lovely views, and the surrounding area is definitely worth exploring too.
